Career Exploration: 1-1 Customized sessions explicitly tailored for your student.
Locking into a career path without trying it out is comparable to buying a house on curb appeal alone. The student equivalent of a walk-through and inspection is getting exposure to a career interest by shadowing, volunteering, or interning. Students will learn to research a profession “from the inside. They will progress from, for example, liking the “idea” of biomedical engineering to “experiencing” biomedical engineering. Participants will be provided a framework for and the tools to investigate their current interests. They will leave the workshop with a polished resume, feedback on a practice interview, and a “Recommendations and Action Plan” with strategies for testing other exciting career options during high school and college, though academic and extracurricular experiences.
The program consists of four sessions: three one-hour 1-1 session and one combined session: 1 30-minutes session with the student and one 30-minute conversation with student and parent.
Instructor Info: Anne Shields, MS, and certified MBTI professional with 35+ years of coaching guiding thousands of college students from some of the top nationally-ranked liberal arts colleges and research universities.
